Minecraft’s world border Primary
Documents the vanilla maximum at X/Z ±29,999,984 — a 59,999,968-block diameter — which is the ceiling the 30M plan runs into. Independent of any server.
Video source notes
DonutSMP has announced an expansion to the edge of what Minecraft can generate. Nothing about the date is confirmed. Everything about the economics is arithmetic.
The numbers in the plan
The core idea
Elytra come from end cities. Netherite, gilded blackstone and mob heads come from a nether that has been strip-mined for years. None of those things are rare because of a drop rate; they are rare because the area they can be found in is small and fully explored. The border is the supply constraint.
The announced expansion takes the border out to 30,000,000 blocks in every direction, which is effectively Minecraft’s own ceiling — the vanilla world border sits at ±29,999,984, a diameter of 59,999,968 blocks. Two ways of describing the same change both appear in the video and both are correct: the radius grows about 133×, the playable area grows roughly 17,700×.
“It’s not that people don’t know. It’s that they know and are still building anyway.”
The reason for caution is on the record twice over. Minecraft does not store a world, it stores the instructions to generate one, so an expanded border is generated on demand by whoever walks into it — and the server has said new hardware was ordered for exactly that. And this team has lost a world before: in October 2023 a staff member deleted the proxy connected to DonutSMP’s databases while clearing storage, and without a full backup the legacy world was gone.
There is no confirmed date. A staged expansion — a million blocks, then more — would relieve the pressure without a headline, and that possibility is treated in the video as live rather than dismissed.

Conflict log · what the sources dispute
The expansion is announced, not scheduled. Everything below reflects that.
| Claim | What the video says | What the sources say | Position |
|---|---|---|---|
| When it happens | no confirmed date; countdowns have passed | a community estimate of “next 2 years” from a July 2026 stream | Stated as unscheduled. No date asserted. |
| How much bigger | 17,700× | radius grows ~133×; area grows ~17,700× | Both correct, different measures. Area is the one that matters for supply. |
| Effect on prices | elytra and netherite collapse | community wiki predicts expensive items become practically worthless | Direction agreed. No one can time it. |
| Will it ship as announced | possibly staged instead | no published rollout plan | Treated as an open possibility, not a prediction. |
| 2023 world loss | a developer deleted it while clearing storage | attributed to a named staff member; no backup existed | Mechanism sourced. The name is left to the source. |
Nothing on this page should be read as a claim that the expansion will not happen. The claim is narrower: no date is confirmed, and the items being stockpiled today are priced by a constraint the server has publicly committed to removing.
