This one leans on another creator’s research and on direct correspondence. Both are marked, because the most important part of the story is not documented anywhere public.
The build that forced the fix
The core idea
6b6t runs an anti-illegals plugin that stops banned blocks being placed, and periodically switches it off for an event. Bedrock, barriers, command blocks and over-enchanted gear arrived in bulk when qbasty acquired 7b7t on 2 March 2022 and partially merged its map — and a merge brings player data with it, so years of another server’s exploits landed on a map that was six weeks old.
During an illegals event, one large clan skipped playing entirely and spent the whole window duplicating, then turned bots loose once the event ended. The reported total is 250,000 bedrock blocks aimed at spawn — the one place every new player has to appear, built from the one block nothing in the game removes.

The response was not a ban and not a rollback — either would have contradicted the premise of the server. Instead the admins made player-placed bedrock breakable in about two seconds while world-generated bedrock stayed untouchable, and the rest of the server dismantled the build by hand.
That fix no longer exists. Tracking the origin of every block and remembering it forever was expensive enough to cause lag, so it was replaced with a positional rule: bedrock at the bottom of the world and on the nether roof is safe, and bedrock anywhere else is breakable regardless of who placed it or when. That change is the ending of the story and it is not in any public changelog we could find — it came from correspondence with the creator who documented the original plugin.

The creator who worked out and published the plugin side of 6b6t’s bedrock handling before anyone else. His video is credited on screen and linked in the video description; the account here builds on it rather than replacing it.
The current positional rule — bedrock only protected at world bottom and on the nether roof — came from messages with the same creator, after his video went out. It is not documented in any public changelog we could find, and is presented as correspondence, not as a sourced fact.
