Video source notes

Half the players
gone in a week.

One number in this story is measured every day by third parties. The other — three billion blocks underwater — traces to a single creator and stops there. This page keeps them apart.

A server-specific collapse, and a flood nobody can measure.

Two things happened to DonutSMP in 2026 and only one of them can be counted. The first is the drop: third-party trackers recorded a weekly average of 28,020 players in the week of 28 May and 13,076 in the week of 4 June. Hypixel moved from 25,360 to 26,309 across the same window. Minecraft did not have a bad week; this server did.

The second is the flood. From July onward, players built water machines that spread on their own and turned large stretches of the map into seabed. That part is real and heavily filmed. What is not real is a total. There is no server-side block counter, no developer statement, and no independent audit — so the widely repeated “3 billion blocks” figure is one creator’s claim that the internet adopted by repetition.

“This is a war being documented entirely by its own combatants. Everyone filming has a reason to make it look bigger than it is.”

The one piece of interpretation in the video is flagged as interpretation on screen and again here: the reason a flood in a 30-million-block world matters at all is that random teleport drops players into a fixed ring near spawn, and the owner has said that ring stays where it is after the border expands. Every active base sits inside the same small area. No official source has confirmed that this is why the flood landed so hard. It is our conclusion, not a sourced fact.

The flood is documented almost entirely by the people doing the flooding and the people doing the draining. Both sides gain from it looking larger. Treat every figure in that footage as advocacy until a neutral source publishes one.
